From the Desk of Ann Glock, Executive Director

We hope that all of our students and their families, our volunteers and donors are doing well and remain healthy!

Thanks to our generous supporters, over the last 12 years The Green Dragon Foundation (GDF) has provided resources to enhance and enrich programs for the students of the Lewisburg Area School (LASD). Since 2008, GDF has given more than $1.3 million to support district-wide educational, cultural, and athletic programs and to augment capital improvement projects. We remain committed to our mission and are accepting gifts to continue providing exciting educational opportunities for LASD students for the next school year and beyond.

However, during these unusual and uncertain times, the needs of our underserved students are our highest priority. The current health and economic crisis highlights the risks to those most vulnerable. GDF is fortifying its long-term commitment to the district to serve these and all of our students.

With the recent announcement that education instruction will occur remotely for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, the need continues. If you are able to make a special gift to GDF during this difficult time, we would greatly appreciate it. Here are a few ways your support will have an impact on our most vulnerable students:

  • GDF Annual Fund - This fund supports every student and our GDF operating budget. Our ability to fulfill our mission has been negatively impacted by the pandemic and we would appreciate your unrestricted support to help us continue our efforts to create opportunities for all of our students.

  • LASD Food Insecurity Program (Snack Pack) - In collaboration with Bucknell University’s Office of Civic Engagement and the Lewisburg Elementary PSA, GDF is helping to raise funds to support the Snack Pack program. Students who attend Kelly Elementary, Linntown Intermediate or the Donald H. Eichhorn Middle School and are eligible for the federal free or reduced lunch program are automatically included in the Snack Pack program. Once a month, a bag of nutritious foods are discreetly distributed to each of these students. There are a total of 350 students and their families who benefit from this critical program. A gift of any amount is appreciated; however a gift of $800 would fully fund this program for one month!

  • LAHS Link Crew Program - Link Crew is a high school orientation and transition program that trains juniors and seniors, known as Link Leaders, to act as mentors and positive role models for freshmen. It helps develop future leaders and gives incoming freshmen a sense of belonging. Support for this program is more important than ever for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year!

  • GDF Endowment for Health & Well-Being - This fund provides annual distributions to LASD to help meet the physical, emotional and mental well-being of all district students. Gifts will be added to the endowment to provide greater annual distributions to the district in the coming years.
