Endowment Created to Honor Retired LAHS Teacher, Joe Keller

Last Updated 2/22/2024

The P. Joseph Keller Endowment was recently created at The Green Dragon Foundation by Wayne and Sharon Stump (Class of 1968) to honor their great friend, Joe Keller, a retired Lewisburg Area High School (LAHS) teacher. With this endowment The Stumps will ensure annual funding to provide exceptional educational opportunities for Lewisburg students, in honor of Joe, who taught high school biology for 30 years and helped with the school’s performing arts productions. The fund supports STEM programs and the Performing Arts for K-12 students in the Lewisburg Area School District.

Joe Keller began his teaching career at LAHS in 1960 and retired in 1990. He was a great teacher and is remembered fondly by students for the positive impact he had on their educational experience. He provided all students, whether in his classes or not, with understanding and guidance. Joe continues to live in Lewisburg and is active in the community.

Wayne described their reason for creating the endowment saying, “Sharon and I established the Joe Keller Endowment because Joe's 30 years of teaching demonstrated his dedication to professionalism, students, and Lewisburg High School. Joe has continued to be a very kind and caring member of the Lewisburg community who was very involved through many volunteer activities. We have been close friends and truly appreciate his kindness and friendship all these years.”

Currently The Green Dragon Foundation maintains 19 donor-named permanent endowments. If you would like to donate to the P. Joseph Keller Endowment or if you would like information on creating an enduring legacy through an endowment, please contact the foundation’s Executive Director, Ann Glock, at [email protected] or call 570-522-8433.
