On December 3, The Green Dragon Foundation once again hosted its Volunteer and Donor Recognition Reception at the Lewisburg Area High School. The Advanced Orchestra from the Donald H. Eichorn Middle School entertained guests before the program started.

This year John Gardner of The Lewisburg Studios was honored as the Volunteer of the Year. John Gardner has been providing his photography services pro-bono to the foundation since 2009 and to the school district since 1985. After creating a photography club and dark room in 1985, he has annually donated photographic and darkroom equipment and frames to support the club's efforts. It is because of John's impressive photography the GDF has been able to "tell its story" so effectively. Through these photos, GDF is demonstrating how donors' gifts have made a measurable difference in the educational experiences Lewisburg students receive.

During the program Tommy Bhangdia, Sarah Burns and Olivia Reish, all current students, and Hillary Palmer, art teacher at LAHS, spoke to the group about how donations to GDF have impacted the art program. All were invited to visit the art room to see the pottery wheels in action. Several other areas in the school were open for people to tour, including the F&CS (Family & Consumer Science)classroom.

As always, we are so grateful to all who have donated both their time and their money to help in so many areas in the Lewisburg Area School District. As Kathy Swope, President of the LASD School Board told the crowd, "You are the village that makes a difference."
