New Cello and Bass Racks Keep Musicians Organized
April 25, 2022 - The orchestra strings program is thriving at Donald Eichhorn MIddle School and throughout the Lewisburg Area School District. String Instrumental teacher Andrew Jones leads a vibrant program that includes 60 students participating at the middle school. With 16 cello and four bass players you can imagine the traffic in the instrumental storage room on ensemble and lesson days.
Last fall, The Green Dragon Foundation provided funding for cello and bass racks to help students organize their instruments. Mr. Jones remarked that the new storage freed up lots of space and students are no longer tripping over instruments. The before and after photos show a huge improvement!
The string instrument students are very dedicated musicians and are grateful to belong to a school community that supports the performing arts. This year Lewisburg string students have been very successful at Pennsylvania Music Educators Association festivals. Sixteen students were accepted to District Orchestra and ten continued on to Regionals. Violinist Isabelle Kim was named to All-State Orchestra which will be held in the Poconos in April. We wish continued success to all musicians in the district.
