GDF Presents Gift of $10,745 to LASD

Last Updated 12/16/2021

Brooks Gronlund presented a check in the amount of $10,745 to the Lewisburg Area School District during the September 11 meeting of the school board.  He noted that this particular gift was made possible through generous donor designated donations received and brings the total amount given to the district to more than $400,000.

According to Gronlund, donors have the option of designating their gifts to specific LASD programs and initiatives, “At the beginning of each school year, we distribute donor designated gifts that were recently received. Typically the Foundation makes its larger gifts in January or February of each year but we like to make a mid-year gift when we receive donor designated gifts that can make an immediate impact this fall.”

These particular gifts were given to The Green Dragon Foundation to fund specific initiatives such as LAHS’ fall play, marching band, Link Crew, girls soccer and cross country teams, the new junior high softball program, and district wide safe school initiatives.

Of special note is a grant received from the Merck Foundation given in support of inquiry based science at the middle school. The funding will be used to purchase science kits specifically designed for 7th and 8th grade students.  Each kit will contain enough materials and supplies to provide a complete lab curriculum experience for 160 students.

All of these gifts will have a positive affect on students throughout the district.  “This fits in well with our goal to impact as many students as possible.”  Gronlund concludes, “We are so grateful to all of our donors for their generosity.  What a difference their gifts will make to our students.”

The Green Dragon Foundation is seeking financial support to continue funding exciting initiatives.  Individuals or businesses wishing to volunteer can contact us through this website or call the Foundation’s office at (570) 522-8433.
